Dear CrimsonRegiment,
Reminder that we have rehearsal tomorrow, 3/19 from 3-5. There will be a "help session" for anyone who needs extra help from 2-3. There will be a short leadership meeting at 2:45. Please see the following important new information and reminders:
Deadlines for Signup:
Please remember the following need to be completed by June 11:
- Fees paid ($850 basic marching fees, plus "as needed" shoes, sticks and mallets, guard spirit pack, etc)
- Register My Athlete completed (available June 1, includes signing contract, other forms, upload UHSAA physical form, etc)
- 2021 Term 4 Report Card submitted to Mr. Hall
If any of these things are not completed on or before June 11, we will not be able to secure a spot in the competitive field show for your student. Please start getting these things taken care of ASAP so we don't have anyone miss this deadline!
Excused Absence Reasons:
I appreciate all of you who have started sending in absence excuses. Please do that if you haven't already. Remember, absences should be communicated two weeks in advance if possible. I am seeing an increase in students requesting to miss rehearsal due to work. I will rarely, if every, excuse a student from rehearsal because of work. I support students having jobs and think they can learn valuable time management skills from balancing having a part-time job with their other responsibilities. However, I expect students to work with their employers to schedule around our marching band rehearsals.
Cleaning Camp Date Change:
We are having to make a schedule change for our fall cleaning camp. It was scheduled for September 4 from 8 AM - 8 PM. That is Labor Day weekend. The only other Saturday we are able to do a cleaning camp is September 11. That is the day of the homecoming dance. Basically, we are stuck between two less-than-ideal dates. We have decided to move the cleaning camp to September 11, but hold it from 8 AM to 2 PM instead, so that students who are planning to participate in homecoming can still do so.
Grades!
The grading deadline for term 4 is the end of this week! You must have no more than one F and at least a 2.0 GPA to participate in marching band. Please work with your teachers to make sure you remain academically eligible.
Physical Fitness for Marching Band
As we get into the summer (and prepare for our first parade on June 5) it is going to be important that we are all thinking about our physical fitness. If you are not a regularly "active" person, it is a good idea for you to start doing some basic workouts on your own. We prepared these videos last year, and I think it's time to bring them back! You should all take a look and give it a go!
Band End of Year BBQ
Many of you have already heard about this, but for our incoming 9th graders, we are having a band BBQ for the whole family this Saturday at 5:30. The CV Jazz Bands will be performing about 2 hours of music, and we will have BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, chips, and dessert for $5 a person. Come and hang out with your band friends and hear some great music! The BBQ will be in the back of the high school between the C and D terminals.
Thanks everyone. See you tomorrow at rehearsal!
